This instruction will help you create an accurate layout of the room for developing an individual kitchen design or selecting a finished interior. It is important that all actions are carried out consistently and carefully with the help of high-quality measuring instruments (hard metal or laser tape measure).
Remember that you are required to accurately determine and record all of the kitchen parameters listed here.
Take a blank sheet of A4 size and display on it the geometric shape of the room. At the same time, you do not need to adhere to the exact linear parameters of the kitchen, taking into account the scale, the main thing is to draw its box of the correct shape and proportions. For example, a square, rectangle or complex polygon.
To make it easier for yourself, stand in the center of the room and look around. Do not forget to display on the plan all available niches / recesses and ledges during construction.
Room box measurement
Using a tape measure, you need to determine the width of each wall of the kitchen. At the same time, keep in mind that they are not always even, so measurements should be taken from the level of the ceiling, floor and in the middle of each surface. For the accuracy of fixing the iron tape measure, you will need the help of a partner.
If you are measuring the room during the renovation and the walls are only to be covered with plaster / tiles, then this information should be reported to the specialist during the development of the kitchen design.
Measuring windows and doors
At this stage, it is necessary to measure the parameters of all openings in the room box: windows, inspection hatches, doors. For each, the exact distances to the adjacent walls / floor / ceiling should be determined, then their location should be noted on the future kitchen plan, indicating all the data in a separate table.
Please note that the measurement of window and door openings is carried out taking into account the platbands facing the wall, since future cabinets or hanging shelves should not fall on these protruding elements. In addition, specify the places for attaching the cornices.
Correct determination of the height of the ceiling
To accurately know this important parameter, you should measure at several points in the room. Usually determine the height of each jamb, in the middle of the walls and in the center of the kitchen. All data is entered into a separate table.
If there are beams or figured stucco on the ceiling, then this should be noted on the sketch indicating the corresponding parameters of each decor.
Accounting for stationary equipment and kitchen heating elements
On the plan, indicate where the meters and stationary electrical / gas equipment are located. Separately, in the table, duplicate the exact dimensions of the devices, it is advisable to take the data from the instructions.
Similarly, measure the heating elements, indicate on the plan their exact location (distance from adjacent walls and floor), write down the linear parameters of all batteries in the table.
Location of outlets and communication points
On the plan, mark the location of each outlet and switch. If you want to change their location, then notify the designer about this or create a drawing after all the changes have been made.
Sometimes in the kitchen there is a water or gas valve. They should also be indicated on the finished diagram, the linear dimensions are entered in the table.
Checking the finished plan
All necessary measurements have been made. The final touch is to check the records and the circuit is ready to go. Is it difficult to make an accurate sketch on your own? Then entrust this work to a furniture company specialist.
